The conference on the Future without Mercury: Best Practices and Recommendations will be held online on 22 October, 2025. The event is organized by Lviv Polytechnic National University together with the Ivan Zolotousty Ivano-Frankivsk Academy. The conference will be held within the framework of the international project implementation LIFE MERCURY-FREE (Complex Awareness Raising and Behaviour Change for the Mercury-Free City Environment).
The conference will present the best Ukrainian practices in mercury management and mercury-containing waste management, and also disseminate recommendations for creating a safe mercury-free environment.
Conference participants will be able to familiarize themselves with successful examples of initiatives implemented in Ukraine, in particular in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as learn about the European experience of Poland, Greece, Italy and Portugal.
Representatives of local authorities, business, scientific and educational institutions, public organizations, as well as specialists from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health, and other environmental and communal services are invited to participate.
The conference will focus on the practical aspects of responding to mercury detections, implementing demercuration measures, and engaging with communities.
