The Department of Theory of Law and Constitutionalism, the Institute of Law, Psychology and Innovative Education, Lviv Polytechnic National University, invites you to participate in the 17th All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference «Power and Human Rights in Wartime: Legal, Political and Historical Dimensions», which will be held online on 5 December, 2025.
Scientists, educators, postgraduate students, senior students and practicing lawyers are invited to participate.
The purpose of the conference is to highlight the specific features of implementing human rights under martial law, to examine international and regional mechanisms for their protection, and to discuss current challenges in the interaction between state authorities and human rights during wartime. This interaction is complicated by the need to balance security and freedom, a challenge considered in legal, political, and historical dimensions.
During the conference, it is planned to:
- discuss current problems related to the mechanisms of action of international humanitarian law in the context of military operations;
- exchange views on problems arising in connection with the restriction of constitutional rights of citizens in wartime in the context of global and domestic experience;
- discuss peculiarities of the international legal dimension and mechanisms for bringing to justice for the Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine.
The deadline for submitting materials is 30 November, 2025.
