Lviv Polytechnic is among the leaders among Ukrainian universities in the demand for IT specialties in 2020

In 2020, the number of applications for IT specialties in Ukraine reached 138 thousands, which is 20% more than two years ago. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Lviv Polytechnic National University became the most popular universities in the field of IT in 2020. They entered the list of TOP-7 universities and received 14,000 applications for IT majors.

At the same time, according to a study by GlobalLogic 81% of IT students in Lviv need more practice and mentoring. The company interviewed future IT specialists from 5 higher educational institutions in Lviv, 60% of respondents – first – fourth-year students and graduates of Ivan Franko Lviv National University and Lviv Polytechnic. Therefore, given that the IT market is growing by 20–30% per year, joint initiatives in the field of education and the IT industry are needed to meet the industry’s demand for qualified personnel.

– Cooperation between business and universities is necessary for the development of Lviv talents. Joint initiatives help to improve the quality of training in universities and master practical skills for beginners, said Andrii Moskalenko, Deputy Mayor of Lviv for Development.

IT majors include: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies, Information Systems and Technologies, System Analysis, Telecommunications and Radio Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Electronics, Applied Physics and Nanomaterials.
