For many years Lviv Polytechnic has been the education quality model. At present, our university pays great attention not only to theoretical training, but to practical part as well. An important step towards the implementation of this idea was made by the rector of Lviv Polytechnic, Professor Yurii Bobalo, who took part in a series of meetings in Germany.

During a business trip to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) in Erfurt, (Thuringia, Germany), the delegation from Lviv Polytechnic met businessmen from the Free State of Thuringia, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dieter Bauhaus and the Director General of the CCI, Professor Gerald Grusser. There also took place the negotiation with the German entrepreneurs about the possibilities for our students – the participants of the German-Ukrainian education project – to take internship at firms in Thuringia. Much attention was paid to discussing the ways of implementing the dual education system in Lviv Polytechnic.

– This is not the first such trip to Germany. Our aim is to make Ukrainian diplomas closer to the German ones. We compare curricula, create opportunities for students to take internship in Germany. We found out that our theoretical programs in a number of specialities coincide completely. So, we pay more attention to the practical part. The main requirement for our students is the knowledge of the German language at level B2. Those who do not know the language can study it at our German-Ukrainian education center. Such students can go to Germany. Also, the main rule is that they can take internship only in their speciality, said the delegate, director of the German-Ukrainian education center Denys Nevinskyi.

At the meeting in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the rector of Polytechnic Yurii Bobalo presented the achievements of Lviv Polytechnic and, after expressing gratitude for the support and cooperation, offered to organize the Thuringian-Ukrainian business meeting in Lviv Polytechnic.

This idea was highly appreciated by Professor Gerald Grusser. It should be emphasized that it was he who funds this German-Ukrainian project and who made it possible that the project exists and cooperates with various German firms. He also makes great efforts to implement dual education in Ukraine and even is ready to come to organize a meeting on this topic with Ukrainian entrepreneurs.

During the visit, there were signed four cooperation and student internship agreements with leading Thuringian companies: Bauer Bauunternehmen GmbH; RSB Rationelle Stahlbearbeitung GmbH & Co. KG.; Ausflugs-und Ferienhotel; SWE Stadtwerke Erfurt GmbH.
