IECDR employees took part in the online conference «Ukrainian school abroad – as a factor in preserving identity»

On May 22, 2021, employees of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, took part in the online conference «Ukrainian school abroad – as a factor in preserving identity». The conference was organized by the Ukrainian school «Materynka» named after Dmytro Pavlychko in Warsaw.

The participants of the event discussed issues related to the structure and activities of Ukrainian schools abroad regarding preserving identity. They shared the stories and reasons for the creation of Ukrainian schools, which they represented.

Oksana Trumko, Candidate of Philological Sciences, a researcher at the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, and Olena Mytsko, a leading philologist at IECDR, told about the Institute’s projects designed to support Ukrainian Saturday and Sunday School Studies abroad. The projects:

  • Ukrainian Educational Universe portal – the first and only online map of Ukrainian educational institutions in the world and a communication platform for educators;
  • textbooks and manuals for teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language at all levels, including new editions of IECDR «The Key to Ukraine: Cities and People» and «Stories from Lesia’s life»;
  • Step to Ukraine portal.

Speakers also spoke about congresses, conferences, round tables, educational and methodical seminars held by IECDR to exchange views between educators and develop new ideas for the promotion of the Ukrainian language in the world.
