Five academics of Lviv Polytechnic have recently done their internship at Karabuk University under the Mevlana program (exchange of students and academics from Turkish universities and other countries). The Council of Higher Education in Turkey covers the expenses of academic staff and offer scholarships for students.

In 2007, a modern university was opened in city Karabuk, where 53,000 students are studying.

For two weeks Orest Horbai, the Head at the Department of Automotive Engineering of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics and Transport, Taras Markiv, the Associate Professor at the Department of Building Production of the Institute of Building and Environmental Engineering, Yevheniia Yakovenko, the Head at the Department of Electronics and Information Technology of the Institute of Telecommunications, Radioelectronics and Electronic Engineering, Tetiana Tepla, the Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Materials Science and Materials Engineering of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics and Transport, and Diana Kindzera, the Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, delivered lectures on their specialties in English. Dozens of students from Karabuk University in Turkey came to listen about the peculiarities of Automotive Industry and Chemical Engineering.

The Turkish side, according to academics, is interested in cooperation, and even suggested to implement some work on the basis of their university. At the moment, we need to think about a mechanism of cooperation and opportunities to support our academics.
