On May 21, an artistic and scientific event «Ukraine in Europe through first discoveries» took place in the engine room of Lviv Polytechnic National University (5 Ustyianovycha Street).

The event was dedicated to Europe Day in Ukraine. Its main idea is to show the scientific greatness of Ukraine, in particular Lviv. Let us remind you that due to inventions and achievements of Galician scientists, European science owes much to our great scientists.

During the event, contemporary art (symphonic and folk compositions, fashion industry, sculpture, experimental painting, lighting and video installations and unexpected performances) were combined with life stories of specific personalities who shaped the science of Lviv (Franz Xaver von Zach, Ignatius Joseph, Joseph Ignác Martinovics, Ludwik Rydygier, Johann Zeg, Sofia Okunewska, Henryk Michałski, Stanisław Lem, Ivan Puliuj, Petro Franko, Oleksandr Smakula and others).

The venue of the event was chosen not by chance. After all, the engine room of Polytechnic was founded at the expense of Emperor Franz Joseph, as an experimental workshop for foreign professors. Therefore, this room combines the unique spirit of European science and the achievements of Lviv scientists, whose inventions raised the prestige of Galicia around the world.

Hundreds of guests, including employees of embassies of European countries, the leadership of the region and many well-known cultural activists, clergy and military attended this vivid artistic and scientific event.
